Hi, my name is Eoin Kelly. I have been in Queenstown, New Zealand since and 2005 and have been an IT journeyman since 2001. I have done everything from designing computer chips to running databases, taming web-servers, resuscitating sad computers, writing desktop & web applications, a little graphic design (more on this later) & training people how to use all of this stuff. The common thread, and “thing that gets me out of bed in the morning” is making IT work for people.
Programming and visual design have a lot in common – we are all problem solvers . Programmers with computer languages and designers with a visual language of colour, shape & proportion. Web technologies sit in the middle and require expertise on both sides to realise a design. Back in the misty, dusty, distant past of the web (i.e. the 1990′s), most designers were generalists but the web as a medium moves like no other and it’s difficult, if not impossible, for visual designers to maintain a complete set of web skills and spend their time doing what they actually love i.e. designing.
I started ALLIB in 2011 to give top-quality web development and consultancy services to the design community in New Zealand. The web is a unique medium and presents its own set of unique challenges. “Consultancy” is a vague term but to me it means that my focus is on problem solving – I have been at various times client, programmer, administrator and designer so I have seen this situation from many angles and I bring that experience to the table when we start work.
If your clients want it on the web, and you want it done right – get in touch.
Thanks for your time,
/Eoin/
